Free training for housing, care and hospitality teams
A free online course that helps frontline staff spot bed bugs early, record what they find and report it the right way. Built by ThermoPest’s bed bug specialists for housing providers, councils, temporary and supported accommodation, care homes, hotels, hostels, student accommodation, managing agents and cleaning teams.
Who it's for
Anyone who goes into homes, bedrooms or guest rooms and could be the first to notice a problem.
Tenancy visits, welfare checks, communal areas and dumped furniture.
Operatives and cleaners working inside homes, rooms and empty properties.
Housekeeping, front desk and maintenance teams.
Short-stay rooms with frequent turnover, and support staff.
Care staff who make beds and help residents who may not report bites.
Hall teams, block managers and inspectors.
Awaab's Law
For social landlords: from 30 November 2026, Awaab’s Law extends to more hazards in social housing in England, including domestic hygiene hazards, which include pest infestations. Staff who can recognise bed bugs and record what they see help your organisation act quickly.
This is awareness training, not legal advice, and it does not on its own make anyone a competent investigator under the regulations. Read our guide to Awaab’s Law and pests.
The course
Seven short modules, each about five minutes, followed by a quiz.
What bed bugs look like at each stage, the signs they leave behind, and where to look first.
What bed bug bites look like, how to support a worried resident or guest, and when to point them to medical advice.
How bed bugs travel between flats, rooms and buildings, and what that means for your work.
A quick, practical way to check for bed bugs on a visit or room check, protect yourself, and record what you find.
What to do on the day a resident or guest reports bed bugs, and the advice that stops them spreading.
How professional heat treatment works, how a home or room is prepared, and why follow-up checks matter.
Who’s responsible for what in housing, care and hospitality, including Awaab’s Law, and why same-day reporting matters.
15 questions, 80% to pass. Your certificate is emailed as soon as you pass.
