Who we work with
ThermoPest works with councils and providers who run temporary accommodation: bed and breakfasts, hostels, supported housing, refuges and HMOs used to house people at short notice. Rooms change hands quickly, residents may be vulnerable, and an empty room you can’t use is a placement you can’t make.
We are bed bug heat treatment specialists, and we also treat cockroaches, fleas, moths, carpet beetles and stored product insects. Our technicians arrive in unmarked vans, treat rooms and the rooms around them, and send a written report with photos, so you can get the room back into use and keep a clear record.
Pests we treat
Rooms change hands quickly, so pests can spread between placements. These are the ones we deal with most in B&Bs, hostels and supported housing.
Heat-led treatment, with targeted spray where needed, plus checks of adjoining rooms so the problem isn’t simply moved next door.
Treatment programmes with follow-up visits, and proofing of the gaps around pipes and service routes that cockroaches use to spread.
Targeted treatment of the affected room, with clear preparation advice for residents and a follow-up visit where it is needed.
Clothes and carpet moth treatment for carpets, wardrobes and soft furnishings, with practical advice to cut the risk of a return.
We find where the larvae are feeding, then treat carpets, edges and fabrics, with advice to help stop the beetles coming back.
Treatment for insects in kitchen cupboards and food stores, with advice on clearing infested food and keeping stores clean.
Our service
Inspection and treatment between placements, planned so the room can be back in use as soon as it is safe to return.
Heat-led treatment of rooms and units, with targeted spray where needed, plus checks of the adjoining rooms.
Shared kitchens, bathrooms and corridors are inspected as well, because pests move easily between rooms in shared buildings.
Calm, respectful technicians and simple preparation guides, with extra care in supported housing and refuges.
A written report with photos after every visit, covering findings, treatment and advice, ready for your records.
Sealing gaps around pipes, vents and skirting boards to close the routes that let pests move between rooms.
Running a hostel? See our page on pest control for hostels. Council teams can also read about our work with local authorities, and our bed bug heat treatment page explains how heat treatment works.
How a job runs

3
Written report
You get a written report with photos and clear recommendations, ready for your records and your residents.
4
Treatment
Heat-led treatment, with targeted spray where needed. Residents get a simple preparation guide beforehand.
5
Proofing
Where agreed, we seal gaps around pipes, vents and skirting to cut off routes between rooms.
6
Back into use
Re-entry is usually within 2 to 4 hours, as the technician advises, with follow-up visits where needed.
Why ThermoPest
We understand that the people you house are often in a difficult moment. Our job is to deal with the pests quietly and leave you with a clear record.
Awaab’s Law
Awaab’s Law applies to social landlords, so temporary accommodation owned by a council or housing association is covered, with pests in scope from 30 November 2026. Our social housing pest control page explains more.
FAQs

Where a council or housing association owns the accommodation, yes: pests are within scope from 30 November 2026. Extending it to licences, including supported and temporary accommodation, is only proposed for now.
Re-entry after heat treatment is usually within 2 to 4 hours of us finishing, as advised by the technician. Some jobs need a follow-up visit, which we book in where needed.
We inspect the adjoining rooms, and the neighbouring flats when we treat a flat, because bed bugs and cockroaches move through shared walls, floors and service gaps. Where we find activity, we recommend treating those rooms too.
We use unmarked vans and our technicians work discreetly. That matters in refuges, supported housing and anywhere residents may be vulnerable or simply want privacy.
Each visit produces a written report with photos through our field app, covering what we found, what we did and what we recommend. It is designed to support your own records.
Contract and portfolio work is priced by quote, based on the number of rooms or units, the pests involved and the response options you need. Call 0808 189 2310 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm) to talk it through.
